Sean Callahan

Andrew Yeoman writes about our friend and teammate, Sean.

It's with a heavy heart that I announce the death of my close friend and teammate Sean Callahan, 27. Sean passed away sometime during the night of Monday, November 16th. Sean got his start in bicycle racing via alleycats in Chicago over 3 years ago, he continued to race alleycats, winning one as recently as last month. This past Summer he had begun to move into sanctioned racing and had earned his Cat 4 track upgrade at the Ed Rudolph Velodrome and had several impressive showings. This Fall, Sean had taken an interest in cyclocross and for the past five weeks he had borrowed teammate Henry Loud's cross bike while he saved to purchase his own. Last Saturday he posted his best cyclocross result yet, finishing 12th in the 4As at the Indian Lakes Resort race. In addition to bicycle racing, Sean was a prominent member of the aggressive inline skating community.

Sean is survived by his parents, two younger brothers, and one younger sister. He will be missed by countless friends throughout the country, his teammates, and others who knew him through his infectious smile.

There will be a viewing and a small service in St. Louis, MO on Wednesday, November 25th.  There will be a larger memorial service in Evansville, IN on Saturday, November 28th.

  1. If anyone from Chicago is coming to St Louis for the service, I can give rides to/from the amtrak or megabus stations. I’m also driving up to Chicago on Thursday for Thanksgiving. If this makes it easier/possible for anyone to attend.
