Nick Wenthur

Name: Nick Wenthür
Age: 27
Location: 92101
Disciplines/ Current Categories: MTB/SS. CX/n00b. Road/KOTM.
Goals for the upcoming season: Get through it.
First Race Story: 24nine, with Cale, riding my college roommates 1990’s Trek MTB which barely shifted and braked like you were riding on ice. Cale graciously let me take the first lap, little did I know what I was in store for. I came back to the bikes near the front of the pack following the lead out ¼ mile run only to find myself in the mix of riders way WAY more skilled than I. The remainder of that lap was a combination of being ridden off the course by much faster riders and me crashing straight thru turns.
1st Bicycle: Schwinn garage sale special that no longer shifted so I shortened the chain and turned into a single speed that still had all the gears on it. Result, not great.
Current bikes: Cinelli Man Machine. Colnago World Cup. Gary Fisher SS. Old Trek converted to a TrackFixie.
Favorite Bicycle story: Any and or all summer Sunday Tour de Beers.
Bicycle superstitions: Passing someone riding a beachcruiser with a cat on their shoulder. You will get a flat, guaranteed.
Dumbest thing you've done on a bike: Riding random Arizona desert mountains by myself with no map or GPS. Ice on the ground in the morning and 100+ temps by the time I made it back to the road, 8+ hours later.
Special Talents? Oh, the usual. I bowl.
Strengths: Endurance
Weaknesses: Flats/Sprints/Shifting Gears
Final words of wisdom? Don’t wait for it.
